Psalm 73 considers the prosperity of the wicked and how those who have no concern for God seem to enjoy all kinds of blessing. It appears as if there is no point in serving the LORD, certainly not if ‘this life’ is all that we have. Then we are right to eat, drink and be merry. The reality of a future judgement however changes things. Because the wicked will be destroyed whilst the righteous are sustained, because there is life after death, we must make decisions in light of eternal realities and not only what we can see with our eyes. It is foolish therefore to become embittered when you see the wicked prosper. We should rather trust that God is working with a plan and that his justice will ultimately be established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
