Psalm 62 focuses on the security of God’s King. Because God is his rock, he knows that he will ultimately be protected and vindicated. God will act to save and honour him (62:1-7). Having affirmed his confidence in God’s care, he encourages God’s people to do the same (v8). Because they belong to him (the King), they share in his reward (protection). Now they must rest quietly in their hearts, waiting for the day of God’s deliverance, waiting for glory to come with the new creation. The King then encourages us with a reminder that it is foolish to seek comfort in earthly treasures (v10) when life is fleeting (v9) and the judgement of unbelievers is sure (v11-12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
