The context for this Psalm is David\u2019s time in the cave of Adullam (1 Samuel 22:1), during the period of his life when he was the anointed but persecuted king (cf. Psalm 52, 54, 56 and 59). Singing this song, certainly the first part of it, we acknowledge as believers that we are counted amongst the friends of God\u2019s King and that our life in the present is one of opposition and suffering. Nevertheless, we do have hope that things will change, hope of glory to come that is tied to the life and death of God\u2019s King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
