The big surprise of Psalm 38 however, is that the one who is guilty of sin is also innocent. He trusts God who judges justly (v13-16) and claims that his enemies have no valid reason for their actions against him (v17-20). In this contradiction, we see that this song ultimately foreshadows the sufferings of Jesus Christ. Numbered with the transgressors, the punishment for our sin fell upon him and verses 1-12 give us a window onto his sufferings. Verses 13-20 then show us the prayer of the Son as he cries to the Father for vindication. A prayer that was answered at the resurrection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singing this Psalm, we testify to and mourn the suffering that comes from sin, not just in general but also our own. At the same time we take heart that the Father heard the cry of the Son, the Son who bore the burden of God\u2019s wrath in our place.
